What’s On in 2025?
Wilton Windmill will reopen for the season on Easter Sunday, 20th April 2025 and will then be open for guided tours and refreshments every Sunday and Bank Holiday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm until Sunday 28th September 2025.
The windmill is operated and maintained by volunteers in the Wilton Windmill Society. Our knowledgeable guides will show you the interior of the windmill and take you upstairs to all four floors, explaining how the internal machinery works. Tours take about 45 minutes, and the last tour starts at 4.30pm. There is no pre-booking required so just turn up and buy a ticket from the shepherd’s hut. The windmill will be open for free guided tours over the ‘National Mills Weekend’ on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May 2025. - This is a national day across the UK and Wilton Windmill, like many other windmills and watermills are open free of charge.
Sadly, the windmill is currently unable to mill flour due to the present condition of the four sails, which were installed during the major restoration of the windmill in 1975. One of the sails broke last year while we were milling due to some rotten timbers and all four sails are in the process of being replaced. The new sails will be manufactured and installed by our team of millwrights later this year. This will not affect the machinery inside the windmill or use of the site, both of which will remain open for guided tours and events.
We run regular events throughout the season which offer something to suit all interests. We will be hosting another murder mystery event performed by theatre group ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ on Saturday 12th July 2025. This will be followed by the annual Wilton Windmill open day on Sunday 27th July 2025, promising a fun day of food, music, stalls and side shows for the family.
