Looking forward to what may happen during the 2016 season has made us look back at some of the stories from previous years.
In May 2010, the most spectacular crop circle was ‘formed’ in the field next to Wilton Windmill in a crop of oil seed rape. Experts at the time said that the design may be connected to Euler’s Identity, a complex formula devised by the 18th Century Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler. Apparently the pattern of dashes and spaces on each of the lines formed the binary code for symbols and letters of the alphabet which feature in Euler’s Identity.
Anyway, it was beautiful whilst it lasted and amazing to see.
