Marquees

Two of the marquees being assembled

Th
e Wilton Windmill Society has 3 marquees available for hire, each being 8 metres x 4 metres.

We have two joining pieces (gutters) and can thus provide a unit of two tents, making 8 metres x 8 metres or three units making 8 metres x 12 metres (the picture above shows two tents joined together).

The tents are available for hire at a rate of 100 per tent per weekend.  Payment is required before the tents are erected.  Concessions are available for Windmill Friends & Members of 50%.  The hirer must take responsibility for the value of the tents and for replacing any missing or damaged bits.  Maximum Liability is 250 per tent.

The tents are colour coded for ease of use (red, yellow and blue).

The hirer is required to provide the labour to put up and take down the tent(s).

The Wilton Windmill Society will provide supervision and direction.  We hope hirers will be responsible in planning for this operation.  It will need four or five helpers and a leader to put up a tent which takes about 45 minutes.  Please liaise with us over the planning or putting up and taking down times.

The site on which the tents are to be put needs to be flat and accessible by a small truck.

There is no provision for lighting and the hirer must make their own provisions in this regard.

The hirer is expected to provide insurance against any claim arising from the use and erection/dismantling of the tents and will not be covered by The Wilton Windmill Society, Wiltshire Council or their insurers.

Safety & Security of Marquees
The tents need to be secured to the ground when unattended - for example overnight.
There are good ground pegs and straps which can be arranged to hold down the corners.
They are also supplied with tie-down straps which go over the top and are fastened to ground pegs.  Also the sides must be attached before the tent is left.
There is a risk that if the wind gets into a tent, the whole affair can be lifted and carried off to wreck itself and cause potential injury and damage.  Therefore sand bags should also be used to weigh down the corners of the tents if bad weather is forecast or if you are in any doubt (sand bags are not supplied).
Safety and security is the responsibility of the hirer.
